It can be utterly frustrating having an ecommerce store on Shopify and not have any sales. You feel you did everything right but nothing is converting for you. Day after day there are no sales which means no income for you. Here are 5 ways to increase sales on Shopify so you can start rolling in the dough.
1. Website Navigation
While most ecommerce stores focus solely on their products and how to market them, website navigation is often overlooked. If your customer can’t find the products they’re looking for then those customers won’t be creating any sales for you. With UX/UI or even any type of web design, website navigation is of utmost importance.
You don’t want users clicking click after to click just to find a product. Best practice is to have the user only click twice to get to a product. This may mean that you’ll have to revamp your site architecture and navigation to get your users to your products faster.
2. Upselling and Cross-selling
Upselling and cross-selling are some great ways to increase sales. When upselling you offer a customer a product that costs more than what they’re currently looking at and it’s your job to convince them that by buying the more expensive product is a better value for them.
When you cross-sell you’re selling them a complimentary product that goes with the product they have in their cart currently. Both of of these techniques increase sales which is always a great thing.
3. Customer Reviews
People are wary of buying products with no reviews. They don’t to purchase a product and find out it’s not what they intended to buy. Customer reviews allow potential customers to see what other people think about the product. Maybe a review answers a question they may potentially have about the product.
If you don’t have any customer reviews you can always incentivize some. Meaning send emails to customers who bought your products and offer a discount next them they make a purchase if they leave a review about the product. People are more inclined to do things if there is an incentive behind it and if you give them a nice discount, they’ll be more inclined to make another purchase.
4. Something for Free
Who doesn’t like free? Offering something for free like free shipping is one of the best ways to increase to increase sales. Now that doesn’t mean offer free shipping for a $10 product, but if their cart has $50 or $75 worth of products in it you can offer them free shipping. If a customer sees that they’re only $10 or $15 dollars away from getting free shipping they’re more inclined to buy something else to meet the free shipping threshold.
5. Abandon Cart Emails
Abandon carts happen and often. Maybe they’re internet got disconnected or a significant other walks in as they’re trying to buy something for them; whatever the reason is, abandon carts are part of the business. By sending them an email saying that they’ve still have items in their cart there is a chance they’ll go back and complete the purchase. You can also incentivize it as well by saying if they complete the checkout process by the end of the day you’ll give them 10% off their order. By giving people a reason to go back to their carts to complete the purchase you’re only helping out your chances for converting a sale.
